Bees  – our most industrious helpers

One of the liveliest and most fascinating experiences here is meeting a real bee colony. In the glass observation hives, you can watch the daily life of bees from close up – their tireless work, cooperation and constant bustle inside the hive.

If you are lucky, you may even see honey being extracted. This moment cannot be planned – it depends on nature. That makes it all the more special and always exceptional for visitors. We also use the honey in our educational programmes, where children can taste it.

Bumblebees – calm and indispensable

From May, when the apple trees in the garden come into bloom, our bumblebee house also comes to life. Bumblebees are calm, inconspicuous and yet very important – they can pollinate plants that bees cannot manage.

Solitary bees - individuals matter too

In addition to bees and bumblebees, you will also find solitary bees here. They have no queen or hive and do not produce honey, yet they are among the most important pollinators. Each of them works alone – but they mean a lot to nature.

Live exhibits

Bees, bumblebees and solitary bees are our „live exhibits“. What you see is real life – natural, ever-changing and a little different every time.

How to behave around bees

There is no need to worry – bees usually mind their own business. Just follow a few simple rules:

  • move calmly and avoid sudden gestures,
  • do not touch the hives or go near them,
  • do not eat or drink near the hives,
  • if you are unsure, we will be happy to advise you.

If you give them space, they will reward you with a unique experience.
